Dear Editor,

Laura and I, along with the Knights of Columbus Blessed Trinity Council, wish to thank the Dawson Springs community for helping make Bluegrass on Beshear V – Pickin’ Life a success.  The event on Oct 7 set records for both attendance and income.  We will likely surpass $14,000 this year, which will be split between 3 great crisis pregnancy centers - Alpha Alternative (Hopkinsville), Door of Hope (Madisonville) and H.O.P.E. Clinic (Benton and Eddyville).

Local businesses Beauty Shop on the Square, Workman’s Auto Service, Tradewater Canoe and Kayak, Casey’s General Store, US Bank, Planters Bank and the Chamber of Commerce sponsored the event with generous donations.  Fiesta Acapulco contributed a gift certificate, Pennyrile Resort Park donated a night’s stay to the raffle.  The Progress donated a year’s subscription to the raffle and provided wonderful event coverage in the paper.  Food Giant donated buns for the barbecue.  The City of Dawson Springs was completely supportive of our charity endeavor.  Our Island Cove neighbors graciously allowed concert goers to park on their property and donated golf carts and ATVs so our parking crew could transport people from their parking spaces to the lake shore.  Local residents Jackie Mathis, Tammy Vaughn and Brent Polley donated their considerable talents as singers and musicians to perform at the event.

Many Dawson-area residents attended Bluegrass on Beshear and made generous donations.  We couldn’t be more pleased with the result and we are humbled by this fine community’s support.  We hope to see you at Bluegrass on Beshear VI on Sunday, October 13, 2019!
