Through community support, FRYSC offering Holiday Assistance to 150 kids

To the editor:

We did it.

Thanks to the generous support of the community the Family Resource Youth Services Center has been able to facilitate holiday assistance to 150 students this Christmas. Your donations and gifts will be under the trees of 63 homes in our community. Families who will be blessed by your good deeds at the end of a very difficult year.

On behalf of these students and families of Dawson Springs Independent School District, I would like to express my sincere and heartfelt appreciation for your kindness and your generosity throughout the 2020 Holiday Season.

I must admit, I expected charitable contributions to FRYSC to be down this year given our current economic frailties as a community, and in light of being in the midst of a global pandemic.

I was wrong.

I happily admit that I misjudged my colleagues, my friends and my neighbors. You continue to make annual gifts and with these gifts you prove how huge your hearts are and what a priority our students are to you. I estimate sponsorships and monetary contributions at a total very near $30,000, a $5,000 increase from last year.

Dawson Springs is a very special place.

Our students will not know who have reached in their hearts and pockets to make their Christmas brighter, but they will see and feel your kindness. I hope in the coming year your acts of kindness come back to you in some way and would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.

Thank you all so much.
