Charles Edward Legate, age 73, of Dawson Springs, KY passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at his residence. Mr. Legate was born on September 25, 1947 in Dawson Springs, KY to the late Goble Legate and Ruth Allsbrooks Legate. He was an underground coal miner all of his working life and a member of the UMWA. He was a member of the Lafayette Baptist Church. And, he was an excellent gardener.

He is survived by three sisters, Paulette Legate, Polly Brown and Kathy Legate of Madisonville, KY; three nieces, Lori (Cliff) Ezell, Lisa (Louis) Powell and Lindy Brown, and one nephew, Eric (Ashley) Legate; extended children; Billie Trautman, Bonnie Trautman and Pat Trautman; six extended grandchildren and several extended great grandchildren including Cade and Cainen Trautman; and ten great nieces and nephews, Kayla, Ashley, Hannah, Emma, Cliff III, Trey, Emily, James Willis, Hayden and Maddy.

Mr. Legate is preceded in death by his parents and a beloved life companion, Penny Trautman.

Visitation for Charles Edward Legate will be Thursday, January 14, 2021 from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour at 1:00 PM at Beshear Funeral Home, Dawson Springs, KY with Rev. Trent Keaton officiating. Burial will follow in Dunn Cemetery. Pallbearers include David Brown, Louie Powell, Trey Powell, Cade Trautman, Cliff Ezell and B. J. Trautman.
