Howard Scott Simons

Funeral services for Howard Scott Simons, 64, of Dawson Springs were Sunday at Beshear Funeral Home.

The Rev. Bobby McKnight and the Rev. Ricky McKnight officiated. Burial was in Rosedale Cemetery.

Mr. Simons died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018 at St. Thomas Hospital, Nashville, Tenn.

He was born on Sept. 1, 1954 in Caldwell County to James Simons and the late Phyllis Jeanne Morris Howton.

He was a graduate of Dawson Springs High School and Technical Electrical School. He owned and operated Hayes Hardware in Dawson Springs since 2000. Prior to Hayes Hardware, he owned and operated Simons construction.

He was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Dawson Springs.

Mr. Simons was a Kentucky Colonel and a former member of the local American Legion, VFW, and Eagles.

In addition to his mother, preceding him in death was a son, Gabriel Scott Simons and a sister, Elin Simons.

Survivors included his wife, Penny Hays Simons of Dawson Springs; three sons, Greg Simons of Nashville, Tenn, Will Simons of Dawson Springs, and Aaron Hays of Dawson Springs; two sisters, Jane Strait of Dawson Springs and Melissa Fain of Earlington; his father, James Simons of Dawson Springs; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers included Greg Simons, Will Simons, Aaron Hays, Chris Moore, Roy McGregor and Ralph Dunkerson. Honorary Pallbearers include Matthew Bone, Scott Mason, Sean Michael Mason, Adam Hays and Jesse Eli.
