A graveside service for Mary Sue Coakley Holmes, 73, Mortons Gap, was Friday at New Suthards Cemetery in Suthards.

The Rev. Jon Riggs officiated. Reid-Walters Funeral Home, Earlington, was in charge of arrangements.

She died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2020, at her home.

She was born in McLean County on Oct. 28, 1946, to the late Virgil and Mary Elizabeth Coakley.

She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Mortons Gap. She was a member of the Mortons Gap City Council and had worked as a manager at Grandma’s Kitchen.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Steve E. Holmes, and her brothers, Virgil Ray Coakley, Marshall Owen Coakley, Gary Allen Coakley, Terry Lynn Coakley and Jerry Lee Coakley.

Survivors include her daughter, Candy Marsh, Beulah; her sisters, Judy Hancock, Hopkinsville, Betty Hopper, Madisonville, Anne Clevenger, White Plains, and Jannie Coakley, Richland; her brothers, Roger Dale Coakley, Madisonville, and Perry Lee Coakley, Nebo; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Brian Hopper, Jay Hopper, Leonard Harris, Travis Watts, Cody Marsh and Mike Coakley. Honorary pallbearers were Dominic Hopper and Tyler Strader.
