COVID-19 vaccinations were offered and administered to staff at Dawson Springs Independent School staff starting Wednesday, according to Supt. Leonard Whalen.

Whalen said the vaccines were given out in the morning to around 40 to 50% of the staff. The vaccine was available to all elementary, middle and high school faculty and staff.

“I’m looking forward to getting it myself and for our staff that is interested to get it because it really gives us another level of protection,” said Whalen.

The school nurse, who is contracted with the Hopkins County Health Department, scheduled all of the vaccine appointments.. For anyone who missed the opportunity to receive the vaccine, there will be makeup days, that will be announced at a later date.

“We are excited about getting the shots going here and getting as many people done as we can that is willing to do it,” said Whalen.
