Those interested in becoming Miss Dawson Springs have until Friday to apply for the pageant, according to the Professional Women's Club of Dawson Springs.

The pageant is open to young women who are age 15 through 21 by Oct. 1. The girls must be in high school, a Dawson Springs High School graduate or have a Dawson Springs mailing address. The girls must not be or have been married or pregnant. Also, participants must not have been charged or involved in any illegal activity past of present, according to the application.

The pageant will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 22, in the multi-purpose room at Dawson Springs Schools. Practice will be at 6 p.m. Friday, June 21, and at 5 p.m. Saturday.

The winner will receive a cash award. The winner will also get a crown, sash, trophy, charm and roses. First runner-up will get money and a trophy.

The girls will compete in three categories: casual wear, dinner dress and formal wear. This year's theme is black and white. Casual wear will consist of the girls in shorts and tops of black and white.

Applications can be picked up and returned to Lori Wooton at Dawson Springs Jr./Sr. High School or Lindsey Morgan or Cheryl Hamby at Beauty Shop on the Square. For more information, call 270-836-8411. The deadline is 4 p.m. Friday.

Miss Dawson Springs represents the club at various activities through the year, including selling raffle tickets at the com- munity center and street fair during the Bar- becue, attending the 4th of July ceremony and assisting with various activities there, lighting up the park and participating in the Christmas parade, attending Mule Days and other events.
