The public is invited to a Service of Remembrance hosted by Beshear Funeral Home next month.
Loved ones of those who died in December 2018 and throughout 2019 are asked to bring an ornament that represents their deceased relative. The ornaments will join many others collected since the event started about 12 years ago. The funeral home has two large Christmas trees full of personal ornaments.
Regardless of when or where a loved one died, Funeral Director Jenny Sewell invites everyone to attend.
The service will be at 7 p.m. on Dec. 5. The service's focus is to comfort the people who are grieving. Sewell said the service often helps people through the holidays and gives them closure.
There will be pictures of those who have died in the last year and their names will be read aloud. There will be a candlelight service and the singing of Christmas carols.
In addition, Elder Jeff Winfrey will give a short message. Sewell said the story of the birth of Jesus Christ will be shared and the relevance of his birth to the present state of guests will be explained.
"It's a good Christmas program," Sewell said.
Homemade refreshments will be served.
