About us DP

The Dawson Springs Progress has been a community newspaper since its inception in 1919. The newspaper has been in the Dillingham family since 1946. The last Dillingham retired in 2016. It was then purchased by the Kentucky New Era group of newspapers located in Hopkinsville. In December 2018 Paxton Media Group located in Paducah, Kentucky bought the firm.

The Progress coverage area focuses solely on Dawson Springs, but the newspaper includes state, national and regional news of importance to its readers.

The Progress is a weekly newspaper, publishing and mailed out to local readers on Thursday.

A paper subscription is $36 a year for those in Dawson Springs, $20 for six months and $15 for three months. For those outside of Hopkins County, the newspaper costs $40 a year, $25 for six months and $20 for three months. With your subscription comes online access to www.dawsonspringsprogress.com. For nonsubscribers, you can access the website by signing up for an online subscription, which costs $40 a year. With that subscription, a print copy will be donated and delivered to a Dawson Springs school. For two-day access online, readers can pay $3.95.
