A shoplifting complaint at Walmart this week led to the arrests of a Hopkins County pair, Princeton Police reported Friday. The incident began at 4:21 p.m. Monday, July 9, when officers responded to the U.S. 62 West store. Investigators were informed that the suspects had left the scene in a maroon Chevrolet pickup. The vehicle was soon located by Caldwell deputies and escorted back to Walmart, where officers located the missing merchandise in the vehicle.

William G. Holt, 53, Dawson Springs, was charged with theft by unlawful taking, $500 or more but less than $10,000 (shoplifting). Officers also arrested Michael R. Sharp, 54, Madisonville, on a charge of second-degree robbery, for allegedly assaulting a Walmart employee during the commission of the crime.
