The Kentucky State Police Post 2 Madisonville would like to welcome a new trooper to its ranks.
A total of 42 new troopers graduated the Kentucky State Police Academy in Frankfort on Friday, June 22, 2018. Their addition to the force brings the agency’s strength to a total of 874 troopers serving the citizens of the Commonwealth.
The new troopers are part of the agency’s 96th cadet class. They reported for training on Jan. 7, 2018 in a class that consisted of 75 cadets. Thirty-three resigned during the program.
Trooper Austin Cornett, 22, of Somerset, will be assigned to the central squad at Post 2 which consist of Hopkins and Webster County. Trooper Cornett graduated from Somerset Community College in 2016 with a Criminal Justice Associate’s Degree.
Each new trooper will be supervised by a training officer for eight weeks after reporting to their post assignments.
